I actually read, "Peter dictates to his computer......." several times more than necessary. It cannot be uninstalled and reinstalled like other software programs.

However, there are several things you can check and do:

The first thing you would like to do is check your microphone/sound card. If there was a short in the cable or it was picking up electronic noise this could account for accuracy. The simplest way to check is to create a Windows Sound Recorder recording. As you are making this recording, speak nice and clear and jiggle the microphone cable at different points. If there's obvious electronic noise, then you have found the most likely course of your problems. CLICK HERE for directions for creating a Windows Sound Recorder recording test.
If there's no problem with the microphone/sound card, you can try doing some additional training. Open up Control Panel and open up Speech Recognition Options. Click, "Train your computer to better understand you."
If 2 above does not help, click Advanced speech options on the left side of the Speech Recognition Options window. Then click the, "New," button. Give your user a different name and begin training. This will allow you to create a new user profile.

Marty Markoe

Edited by mmarkoe_admin - 27/Apr/2009 at 4:04pm
